What does it mean to study in the Humanities Faculty?

Humanities, according to Britannica (2014), are the “branches of knowledge that concern themselves with human beings and their culture”. Therefore, studying in the humanities faculty of a university means that students will be studying topics relating directly to humans, such as psychology or theology. It is important to note that humanity students are educated during the duration of their studies to obtain skills that enable them to relate to people from different classes, ethnicities, ages, and genders- this allows students to gain valuable intrapersonal and interpersonal knowledge, such as self-reflection, values, and informed perspectives (Van Wyngaard, 2025). Additionally, humanities students learn skills such as critical thinking, academic writing, and problem solving, which ensures that they can perform optimally in the workforce (Behling, 2012). The Existence of God

 Date: 22 April 2025 The existence of God is the premise of Christianity. However, many non-believers do not believe in God as they cannot grasp the concept of God’s existence. The aim of this essay is to prove the existence of God, using Aquinas’s Theories of Gradation and Design and a theist perspective. This essay will first discuss the Theory of Gradation and the Theory of Design, their objections and finally the clarification of these objections. The Argument of Gradation is Aquinas’s fourth argument for the existence of God. This argument suggests that there are degrees in which moral good can occur and that the highest form of good is God (UNISA, 2024). To explain this theory, we may use the example of a circle: In our reality, there is no such thing as a “perfect circle”, despite this, we are aware of what a perfect circle would entail.
